What to consider while choosing abrasive service valves?

Abrasive service valves are one of the most critical component in the design and operation of varied industrial processing plants. It does not matter if it is a catalyst, harsh polymers, chemical slurries, waste, materials in materials in mining, or the transportation of many mineral slurries at low and high pressure.

Also, several applications need cutting edge technology compared to conventional liquid and vapor services.

With such as advanced technology, it would not be possible if manufacturers were not able to design and provide equipment which can operate reliably in services.

In this blog, we will look at the important points to consider while choosing the best Abrasive service valves.

1.      The designs need to be able to handle the deposition of fines and dewatered slurry throughout the non-flowing regions of the valve.

2.      Also, the seats and seals should be made from the materials with the ability to withstand the nature of flowing slurry.

3.      It is also important that the sealing seats should be capable of providing zero leakage and that too under full design pressure with little to no differential pressure.

4.      Moreover, the Abrasive service valves must have ease of operation like the plant personnel which can use safe methods for cycling.

5.      On the other hand, the valve stems must be designed keeping in mind to accommodate very high thrust.

6.      Valve should be provided to become a valued asset of the plant, instead of being a liability.

Pneumatic Actuator – How to install it ? - Guide by Kinetrol Pneumatic actuators

The actuators can be divided into two types and are based on technical principle of the valves, and they are made up with electric and pneumatic actuators.

The structure of pneumatic actuators are a type of quarter-turn structure used to regulate coupled with the locators of the pneumatic actuators.

They are also suitable in gas, steam and liquid, etc  and it consists of valve bodies, pneumatic operating mechanism, locators, and other accessories.

When it comes to the operating system of the Kinetrol pneumatic actuators, it adopts the power source of compacted gas and turns the arms through the mobility of the valves.

The installation of the ball actuators with pneumatic actuators:

1.      The process starts with dismantling the protecting lids on both sides of the ends and rinsing the valves under the situation of full opening of the valve.

2.      Before the process, we recommend you to check the valves with pneumatic actuators according to the delegated signals and if no issues are found, then you can put them into installation.

3.      Prior to connecting, it is crucial to wash clearly the pipes to ensure there are no residues left in the pipes and also these residues can erode the balls and valves.

4.      Installation of pneumatic actuators can be either in a horizontal or vertical direction of the pipes.

5.      During the installation process, the structure of operations should not be used as the lifting point in the whole process to avoid any damages.

6.      Finally, look closely the flanged joint screw.

At last, we recommend you to test the actuators with Kinetrol pneumatic actuators to see if they are working properly and safety.

Now that you know how to install actuators and check it using Kinetrol pneumatic actuators, make sure to visit our official website now for more information!

What is a Cryogenic Valve, and what are its different types? | Gosco Valves

It is remarkable but accurate that we have used valves to control the flow of liquids for thousands of years. Cryogenic valve, while unique, is similar to these age-old designs, only modified to accept shallow temperatures. Cryogenic valves are available from several quality suppliers, a list of which can be found online.

Characteristic cryogenic valve styles include gate, ball, and globe valves. Gate Valves operate as the name implies, by rising as well as lowering a barrier within the valve body so that the flow of liquid can be turned on, slightly metered and turned off. The gate valve has the advantage of providing straight-through flow when fully open, resulting in very low restriction as well as small pressure drops. Gate valves also typically open using a threaded linear actuator mechanism that slowly raises the gate as a handle is turned. This slow movement mitigates a rapid change in fluid momentum that can result in water hammer.

Different types of Cryogenic Valves

Cryogenic Ball Valves- As the name suggest, this valve has a ball and includes a Polytetrafluroethylene body. These features better flow characteristics than the globe valves. They perform excellently when a tight-stuff is needed in multiple applications. The ball valves are more likely to be worn out along the seals and around the ball itself. They are mostly preferred in applications that require an unrestricted flow path.

Cryogenic Relief Valves- These bring pressures to pre-determined value as well as a shield from over pressurization. The relief valves are intelligent enough to let off stream in case safety limits are exceeded.

Cryogenic Globe Valves- They are named after their spherical shape and contain a removable disk internally that rotates at an angle of ninety degrees to the plane of its body seat. Those are quite complex and great for long-term sealing and performance. However, they may not resist moisture for long and are not suggested for use when the flow rate is paramount.

Cryogenic gate valves- In these valves, there is a wedge-shaped gate that swings to close in line with the mating body seat — the consequences in minimal pressure drop event in its fully open position. Similar to the ball valves, they offer excellent flow characteristics but are hindered by wear and tear.

Cryogenic butterfly valves- The butterfly valves use a circular disk at the center that is responsible for the shorter length of the butterfly valves than the abovementioned varieties of cryogenic valves.
